Brief Synopsis
“Bound” questions how a physical manifestation of mental restriction influences artistic expression and audience reception.
A wearable cast of the performer’s torso was suspended in the WaveCave leading up to the performance, surrounded by recordings of the player and videos of the player in the cast. In performance, the player was sewn back into the cast and forced to perform once more. This piece encouraged a discourse on the implications
of physical constraints on artistic expression and emotional authenticity by investigating how
the audience perceives music when the performer’s mental limitations
become tangible, visible.
